wanker. bollocks. piss off.

My crash course in English continues, especially since the sale of the Aston Villa Football Club to Browns’ owner Randy Lerner was made official a short while ago.

Anyone care to offer a translation of this post’s headline? Because I have no idea. Really.

Up the Villa. Oi.

I’ll tell you after I finish my bangers and mash. Whatever that is.

    Juan’s Translation Service

1)Wanker — Person engaging in the sin of Onanism or self-abuse. Can also be used as a verb — “Father Eddie wanks the boys enthusiastically despite being born without thumbs.”

2)Bollocks — native to males only, matched set of organs required for reproduction. Ascend when it’s cold, descend when it’s hot. Also known as “the boys” and “danglers”.

3)Piss Off — cousin to “Bugger Off”, the English equivalent to North America’s “F*** Off”. It is an invitation to leave without further delay or discussion. Can be either menacing or friendly, depending on the context.

    juan,
does another meaning arise when all three are linked together as they are in the football headline that uc posted, or is it linear in its translation?

  4. Uncle Crappy says:

Bangers and mashed I have no problem with. That’s British for “sausage, potatoes and beer.”
