Uncle Crappy

words. pictures. beer.

We have one more day of skiing left before we head back to the Burgh, and I’ll probably be the only one out tomorrow. That’s because of the snow that’s falling so hard that we actually saw lightning and heard thunder outside our window just a few minutes ago. The same snow that started falling while we lounged in the outdoor pool this afternoon.

Now, soggy lake-effect snow isn’t the same as Colorado powder, but I’m still the only one excited about the prospect of skiing in fresh tomorrow morning. The Wife has stuck with cross country this trip — she tried to get back on the slopes, but the knee she blew in Aspen two years ago is still giving her trouble — so she’ll have a fun day as well. The grownups? They’ll be fine, playing games and drinking cocktails.

We did some of that tonight as well, and I crushed everyone else playing Balderdash while we munched on cheese, sausage and caramel corn (Aunt Mary’s, of course) all night. Pix, taken by Aunt Nancy, can be found here.

The drive on Saturday promises to be a complete pain in the ass — they’re forecasting snow driven by 30 mph winds — and by then I’ll be thinking about about this trip was too short.

For now, all I’m thinking about is getting out on the new snow tomorrow morning.
