TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns was arrested on felony drug charges Tuesday and kicked off the team, the latest in a string of off-the-field problems for coach Nick Saban’s squad.
Johns, who moved to defense for his senior year after playing running back and receiver in 2007, was “pretty wide open” selling cocaine to students on and around the University of Alabama campus but tried to hide what he was doing from teammates, police said.
Hm. At least he’s got that sandwich business to fall back on.

I never heard of Jimmy Johns so I went to the locator and find out that there’s one within walking distance of my office. I wonder if they are “pretty wide open” about selling sandwiches too?

I cannot tell you the conflict of reactions I am having to this….
A. Not terribly surprised.
B. Astounded that U of A didn’t do more to keep this hush-hush after the debacle in the early 2000-2003 era.
C. I miss Tuscaloosa and the high drama that centers around U of A football.

I don’t mean to pick on Alabama — and I should probably be mindful of Karma here, especially since our second-string quarterback got arrested for trying to buy a blowjob last fall.
But: Jimmy Johns? Delivery? C’mon — how could I pass that up?
