Mrs. Crappy and I are seeing these guys — the Carolina Chocolate Drops — on Thursday night, thanks entirely to Mrs. Crappy. She had heard them on World Cafe a while back and has been dealing with a mild obsession ever since. She has that North Carolina connection with the band — she lived in Chapel Hill for a couple years while she was growing up and finished up high school in Morehead City on the Outer Banks — and she set up the evening for the two of us at the Thunderbird Cafe in Lawrenceville..
The music seems to be a pretty cool mix of very traditional Piedmont bluegrass/old timey and string-band versions of more contemporary tunes. I’m looking forward to the show; if you get a chance, you should join us.
ooh! I want to go! Can you email me times & cost etc.?

I am so out of touch – I miss more shows simply because I didn’t know about them. These guys are awesome.

I want to go!! If I start driving right now, I might catch their second set! I will be on the lookout for them playing in the Carolinas in the near future. Looking forward to your music review.

I could still use some help with the Southern food thing. You and Mrs. Crappy available?

UC,
Can’t go wrong with a cast iron skillet and Jiffy corn bread mix. Mix it up per the directions, put the skillet in the oven with some butter, once the butter has melted, put in your batter and let r bake! Enjoy!
