Wanna go? I’ve got a pair of tickets for you.
Unsure? Listen — the list of breweries and beers is staggering. It’s three hours of the most fun you’re going to have all year. It’s at Station Square — easy to get to from anywhere, and no parking hassles. And if you run with our crowd, chances are excellent you know at least a couple ruggers; this is their biggest fundraiser of the year, and it keeps that excellent program in a position to continue with the regional and national playoff berths that have become the norm.
In short, it’s totally worth the $60 you’d spend for a pair of tickets.
But you might not have to do that. Here’s what you do instead:
- Click on the link (above) to the beers that will be featured on Sunday.
- Leave a comment here, telling me which one you’re looking forward to drinking the most, and why. (If you’re a first-time commenter here, don’t worry — those go to a queue for my approval, and I won’t miss it.)
- Get your comment in by noon on Wednesday; that’s when I’ll hit up random.org, which will pick the winning comment for me. I’ll contact the winner via email; if I don’t hear back by noon on Thursday, I’ll pick another number. Once we have a winner, I’ll arrange for AAA, better known as Queen of Brewfest, to have your tickets waiting for you at Will Call.
Simple. Free beer festival. Hang out the Crappys and other Yinz Teamers. Do it.

There are a lot of good beers on the list but I would be most interested in trying the Miner’s Daughter Oatmeal Stout. I am a big Oatmeal Stout fan and have never had this one. I would like to compare it to some of my favorite Oatmeal Stout’s.

I totally want to go to this! I just dragged my husband on a 17 hour road trip to see my family over Thanksgiving, and taking him to this would be the perfect thanks!! He would be most pumped to try the North Coast Brother Thelonius (even though Rasputin is his Favorite) and I would be all about getting my hands on some Rogue’s Hazelnut Brown. Now I’m gonna be thinking about beer at work again…

Definitely the Peppermint Porter. That sounds fantastic. I had a raspberry stout at magic hat this weekend and the chocolaty stout with the raspberry was festive AND delicious. Peppermint Porter though? That’s inspired! Oh, and Banana Bread sounds odd. I’m interested…

UC, Free brewfest tickets = Megacomments. You’ve got to be able to leverage that in the future.
I won’t be able to attend but here’s my thoughts on the list…WOW! UC, I know you like your ales, but I challenge you to find a good pilsner. The nature of the style (light body, light color, low bitterness, etc.) makes for less complex flavors, but you’ll need a good one when it’s blazing hot in July and August. Two of my favorites are Pilsner Urquell (Czech) and Spaten (German). Also, partial to GLB’s Dortmunder Gold. Good luck and good hunting.

We are lucky to have good ones right here in town. Penn Pilsner — similar to a Dortmunder — is excellent; Penn’s Kaiser Pils, which will soon start showing up in bottles for the first time, is even better.
