I’m in the middle of another musical downloading frenzy, and I think it has something to do with the fact that we haven’t seen any live hippie music (excluding Ohio State’s marching band, and I’m not sure that counts as hippie music) since the Panic show last summer.
That’s bad.
What makes it worse is that that there have been/will be chances in the recent past/near future that we just can’t take advantage of. Ratdog in Erie last Friday? Could’ve done it, but we were both beat after a long week and didn’t feel like putting too much effort into our last free weekend between now and Thanksgiving. Ratdog in Greensburg, just east of Pittsburgh, next Friday? Ohio State home game … we’ll be in Columbus, where Ratdog isn’t. Sorry. There was also a Pittsburgh appearance last month by String Cheese Incident, whom I still haven’t seen.
I hate it when real life gets in the way of fun.
But the dam is about ready to break, and I’m ready to swim. We already have tickets — floor seats, no less — for Phil and Friends at Palumbo Center at the end of the month. And December brings shows by Derek Trucks, Dark Star Orchestra … hell, we might even go see Hookah at Mr. Smalls.
To a lot of folks, the prospect of attending at least three concerts in the next month — and the knowledge that attending those shows will make nearly everything all better — probably seems to be a little psychotic.
Welcome to my world.
Uncle Crappy…I dont know if you have heard, but a near historic landmark from our youth is no more. Your beloved White Castle at the corner of Kenny and Henderson met with the wrecking ball a while back. As of now, it is a empty parking lot. Only the memmory, and some grease stains that will remain for centuries to come, still mark the spot. Worry not too much, a more recent model White Castle will soon be standing on that holy ground. I stole a brick for you from the wreckage of the old store and it was in my trunk for several weeks. It remains in my closet.
