out.

Now I’ve gone and done it.

I’ve considered for a while the possiblity of listing Uncle Crappy at Pittsburgh Bloggers, but I’ve never really acted on the impulse. I guess I never really considered this to a Pittsburgh blog; instead, it’s just a blog about a life that happens mostly in Pittsburgh.

But if you cruise through my old entries, you’ll find an awful lot of stuff about my adopted home — at least, that’s what I found when I was fucking around with my archives over the past couple of nights.

And when I compared that with the content of some of the blogs listed at Pittsburgh Bloggers, I found that Uncle Crappy fits in fairly well, except for the football stuff. And that will probably continue to be a problem, although not one that I’ve become accustomed to dealing with in the last 11 years.

I also think there’s an important community aspect to the whole thing. I know I can — and I have — commented on local stuff here in a manner that I can’t match in my professional life, as strange as that may sound. I don’t have a lot of barriers thrown at me at the newspaper, but unfettered opinion in print is a rare thing. I can indulge that sweet tooth here, as can everyone else who’s listed at Pittsburgh Bloggers. I don’t have a clue whether we can make any kind of collective difference, but it’ll be fun to find out.

OK. If you’re here for the first time, and you found me through Pittsburgh Bloggers, don’t spend a lot of time looking for happy Stiller talk, because you won’t find a single fucking word. But I’m happy you’re here nonetheless.

And if you’re an Uncle Crappy regular — especially one with Pittsburgh connections, ahem, DD/learned pig — click on the new button in the sidebar and check out some of the links. I’ve found some interesting stuff so far.
