When our Buckeyes start play in the Big Ten tournament Friday at noon, they’ll be wearing new uniforms. The form-fitting Nike jerseys carry a LeBron James logo.

Am I the only one who thinks the tight top with the baggy shorts looks ridiculous? Yeesh.

I understand the thinking here, especially from a merchandising standpoint. I didn’t like the new football jerseys at first, but from C deck, they look pretty much the same. I got used to them eventually, and even bought one after swearing I never would.

But changing the basketball uniforms during the season? Wrong.

    I can’t say I’ve watched all that many games so far this season – but I have seen some key ones (NC State early on, Wisconson recently, and Michigan last weekend) – and quite frankly – I’ve very concerned about OSU’s ability to control games – much too close for my liking against sometimes much weaker teams –
    Hope I’m just being a nilly willy – oh yeah, and changing the uniforms now – why??

  2. Performancewise, they certainly lack the consistency you’d like to see; I attribute that to the fact that so many freshmen are heavily involved. But I’ve seen parts of several games where they are just scary good. If they’re interested, they seem to play to their abilities. If they’re not interested — as was the case in both Penn State games, for example — they can turn what should be a blowout into an uncomfortable afternoon.

    And I should probably wait to actually see the unis before I rip them. I’ll be taping tomorrow’s game (noon on Friday against Minnesota or Michigan) because I’ll be at Seven Springs. Ahhh…

  3. UC, changing uni’s is analogous to that school up north changing coaches on the eve of the tournament season a few years back when they went on to win it all. I see us rolling to the title in 4 weeks, avenging our football loss to UF in the process.
