Tuesday is primary election day in Pennsylvania. I don’t have to work on election night — still not quite sure how that happened — but I’m determined nonetheless to participate in the Democratic Process.
I mean, beside the actual voting part, which I’ll take care of on my way to work in the morning.
No, we’re going to have our own election right here at Uncle Crappy. I’ve been playing around with a couple of new templates today — I’ve looked at other, non-Blogger setups, but my HTML skills aren’t yet ready for that kind of heavy lifting — and I think I’m down to a couple of finalists, presented in no particular order:
Option No. 1:

What I need from you: Which one? Why?
I should caution you about a couple of things. One way or another, we’re making a change here, boys and girls, so I don’t need to hear whining about going back to the old Uncle Crappy template. And this isn’t really a democracy; I reserve the right to vote as many times as I want if I decide I like one template better than the other. Pretend for just a second we all live in Florida. And I’m a Republican.
So. Whaddaya think?

Option 1 – more pleasing to the eye – but – I still like the star on option 2 – colors just don’t do it for me there

Option 1 – I like the layout out, it is clean. Maybe a little too serious looking and “business like”
Option 2 – Great colors, great graphics. I vote for this one because I like shiny things!
Optional Option – Mit Romney and R. Guiliani say that snide remarks about Republicans won’t help you in resolving this matter.

With only two votes, votes that are split, you’ll just have to perform the veep role and decide for your self.

I like option 2…the dark background divide up the space nicely and the print seems to stand out well. Overall though, neither are you…do they make a tye-dye template?

Option 2 is looking pretty strong at this point. As I mentioned before, it was The Wife’s choice as well.
I’m going to kick this around today, and the new Uncle Crappy will be up by tomorrow morning. Any last-minute votes need to be by, let’s say, 7 p.m. Eastern tonight.

If I had to choose between the two – I’d say Option 1 is the one to do!

I know that I think I’m going to loose, nevertheless, I’ll go on record that Option 1 is the one I’d choose.

UC, Option 1 is the way to go. Your audience is aging, gracefully in some cases not so gracefully in others, and the lighter background is much easier to read.
Secondly, those aging tickers may not be able to handle the stress of a dramatic change. I’m picturing readers dropping over at the shock of logging on and seeing option 2. Can you imagine the confusion as CSI’s across the country are confronted with dozens, maybe even hundreds, of unexplained deaths with the UC blog as the common denominator?
UC, do as you must, but consider the well-being of your readers. And if not for us, think about the investigative scrutiny you may be faced with.

It seems clear as well as insightful as to what option should be used – first, of the 10 logged votes so far, 8 of them, over three quarters, are in favor of option 1. Need I say more? Yes. Second, it also appears that there is an indisputable line along gender that has been scientifically quantified and verified – males will choose option 1, females will choose option 2 – so, the real question is, what gender will UC choose?

Some thoughts:
Large is correct about light type/dark background. I think I can lighten the background there to make things easier on our aging eyes.
(And because I’m gonna need bifocals by the time I get my next pair of glasses, I could also pump up body type to something around 30 point…)
Sister is correct in her assessment that neither of these is a solid fit. That’s probably the biggest reason I’ve been so indecisive.
The most recent comment — which I’m guessing came from Kewyson — makes an interesting point. Except for the part at least seven of the votes for Option 1 came from the same person. (coughkewysoncough) It’s not nice to try to bait Uncle Crappy…

UC – I’m back – just did a little ‘internet’ research and found this –
Exit polls are still showing an overwhelming favortism towards #1 (technically, there can be more than 1 anonymous, I see no direct linkage that there is only 1) –
Also, being the tech savvy dude that I am, I found out these great facts – Option 1 has raised $1.23 in election funds, whereas Option 2 has raised only $0.53. Option 1 has 674 myface friends – Option 2 has only 7. The public has spoken – it is your duty to follow the will.
Okay then – what’ll it be?? I’m going to go open a bottle of red vino, cook some pasta, watch the storms and have dreams of sugar plum fairies dancing on a backdrop of Option 1.
