So we got a kind of surprising thing from our vet’s office in the mail yesterday. It’s a brochure, touting their Senior at Seven Wellness Exam program. Apparently, when your cat turns 7, he’s considered a “senior cat,” and therefore deserving of some special attention.
And extra visits to the vet’s office. At $100 a pop.
The language of the brochure was what was really startling:
As cats move into the senior phase of life, they experience changes that are very similar to aging humans.
Working closely with your veterinarian, you can make a significant difference in the life of your senior cat.
When she opened and read the brochure, The Wife immediately informed Miles, who turns 7 in late July, of his senior status.
He was not pleased.

Time to get the Kitty AARPS card!
