I’m going to have to start writing more than once a week.
- The football. It was good. It was also beastly hot, nasty enough that everyone in our group had bailed by the end of the third quarter. But what we did get to see was reassuring. Boeckman seems to have a good thing going with Brian Robiskie; that’s going to come in handy once we start playing teams that play pass defense once in a while. Running game was solid, and our defense looked scary. In a good way. But we still have no idea about how the Big Ten is going to shape up. Is Wisconsin the best team in the league? They struggled against Nevada and at home against Iowa. Penn State? The Nits’ offense has looked good against bad teams, but Morelli looked like he was lost against Michigan. And then everyone’s preseason favorite, up there in Ann Arbor — jesus, will the real Wolverines please stand up?
- Antonio Henton, OSU’s freshman quarterback, was in court today on a solicitation charge. Uh, not good. To borrow the assessment of a friend — you’re an Ohio State quarterback, in Columbus, and you can’t get laid? Hello?
- Those goddamn skiing magazines that keep showing up in my mailbox already have me thinking about snow.
- The Indians. It’s been too long since I last heard Tom Hamilton shout “It’ll be an October to remember!” Can’t wait for the playoffs.
- If you’re a Pittsburgher and you need me to explain the preceding statement, send me an email — I’ll be happy to take you through it.
- Last, but certainly not least — today is the eighth wedding anniversary for Uncle Crappy and The Wife. What are we doing to celebrate? Covering city council meetings. Ooo, the romance never fades.
Congrats on 8! And for the plans – who knows, maybe something will get tabled to the uproar of the citizens! Too bad you aren’t out here to cover the ‘logic’ of the Iranian President, or ‘logic’ of the US president.
We passed the 9 year mark this year – didn’t even go out to dinner – our au pair asked me when I started to cook dinner that night – aren’t you two going out? Sometimes, just not want you want.
Now, on to the frozen sport – getting excited myself – may even get new equipment this year (I’m so behind – I think my ‘shorter shaped skis’ are still 195s – I bought a new ski bag last year, and had trouble finding one to fit those things – and my teles, they’re even longer!) – may be the year to get new ski / boots for my wife and I – and rent for the kid(s)

Jesus, Kewyson — I think the longest skis I’ve ever owned were 195s. I dug them out of the basement when I started skiing again a few years ago — in all their late-1980s neon-green glory — and used them maybe three times before the 20-year-old bindings exploded. I didn’t really believe my folks when they said how nice the new stuff is, until I rented a pair at Seven Springs, post-binding explosion. So get some new gear, willya?
I’m probably good with the gear I have for another few years. It feels like I’m skiing a lot, but I got out probably ten days last winter. It’ll be a while before I wear that stuff out.

UC – as the snow has not fallen yet – we still have the Boys of October to watch – and it looks like the Yanks will be playing the Indians next week – best of luck to both teams, I only hope the the winner of this series is in the World Series

Hey UC – another week and what? more bullets?
So Thursday is the night – Yanks and Indians – let’s focus on the Bucks – nothing should come between us.
I was typing in the address for your blog, and lapsed back a number of months – and typed in this, http://www.unclecrappy.blogspot.com/
besides the benefit for Pfizer, I’m not quite certain what to make of it. Do you have a German counterpart that dables in biochemistry?

I’ve noticed that too; it showed up not long after I gave up that name. There’s a story behind that change; I’ll let you know more about it once it’s ready.
And you don’t want to talk to me about baseball, Yankeeboy … especially not after the Indians win in four.

I love the dreaded bullet updates.
Football: Good stuff
Baseball: Even better
Skiing: I should find my 80’s era skis. I think they’re 195’s. I’m sure my bindings would explode as well….
Cycling: Just signed up for the 2008 “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride” in Lake Tahoe. Crazy, huh?

HP: So, did the Boopster handle simultaneous Stillers loss/Browns win OK?
