Here’s a chance you don’t want to miss.

If you A) live in the Pittsburgh area, and B) have a blog, you can see The Vagina Monologues for free at City Theatre on the South Side.

Here’s how it works: Pittsburgh bloggers are invited to attend a special performance of the show at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12. You can bring a guest. The show is preceded by a reception — for us! — at 4:30. And if you write about the show later, you’ll get a special discount code you can offer to your readers.

Send an email to Margie Romero (mromero at citytheatrecompany dot org), include your name and your blog’s URL and let Margie know if you want one ticket or two.

She asks that you get in touch by Wednesday, Jan. 2, but you might not want to wait that long — the Hamburg Studio seats only 111, so those tickets may be spoken for well before Margie’s deadline.

One big lesson I’ve learned in the 15 years I’ve lived in Pittsburgh is an appreciation of our local arts scene. Each time The Wife and I venture out to take in something new, we usually come away impressed. I haven’t yet had the chance to see a City Theatre production, so I’m not passing this up. You shouldn’t either.

Someone who has seen her share of City Theatre productions is Cindy Closkey, and I suspect Cindy had something to do with this offer. Be sure to buy her a drink on the South Side after the show.

  1. Oh, this will be fun! City Theatre is terrific, and the Hamburg Studio is a perfect venue for this show. “The Vagina Monologues” has become something of a phenomenon, so it’s fantastic that we have this chance to see it in this setting. I’m glad you and your wife are coming!
