I haven’t yet discussed how I’m doing in the various other basketball pools I’m wasting time on this year.
And I should. Because I’m doing pretty well.
1) This is the first year I’ve participated the annual Pittsburgh Bloggers March Madness Challenge, organized by Sportsocracy.org. It attracts bloggers and local celebs alike, and I wasn’t sure what kind of competition I would be facing my first time around.
So I was a little surprised to find that I’m leading after two rounds. Very cool, but I’m not sure it’s going to hold up, because I had both Pitt and Georgetown making the final four. My title game — North Carolina and UCLA is still intact, but I think I’m going to need some luck if I’m going to win bragging rights in this one.
2) I’m in second place in the yahoo pool, a group of friends from Maryland I know through a co-worker. I also have come to refer to this one as the money pool — there’s about $200 up for grabs at the end.
But my position here is as tenuous as it is in the bloggers pool — a strong start but potentially a very weak finish. We’ll see.
3) I’m not sure where I stand in the two office pools, in my newsroom and in that of The Wife. She hasn’t given me an update from her place, and the guy running our pool isn’t back until Tuesday. But I didn’t have any really goofy brackets this year, so I imagine the results are about the same.
At least for now.
I think everyone had Georgetown moving on so you will probably be ok.
