game time.

I’ve had some fun this week. And now it’s time for the joking around to stop.

Need to get pumped for tomorrow’s game? Take a look at this picture:

Yep. That’s Texas receiver Limas Sweed making an incredible catch over Nate Salley a year ago. Remember Michael Jenkins’ catch against Purdue in 2002? Just as that was the defining moment of Ohio State’s national championship season, Sweed’s TD in last year’s game — right in front of Uncle Crappy and The Wife, by the way — was the play that propelled the Longhorns to their title.

Pissed off yet? How about this one:

Last year’s Rose Bowl was a great game, and Texas deserved that championship. But I know I’m not the only Ohio State fan who had a nagging suspicion that if we had played Texas in January instead of September, things would have been different.

It’s time, boys and girls, to set things straight. If you’re not ready by now, you’re never going to be.

  1. nice post! even though it says its kristi, i’m actually her husband, dan the man. anyway, if you have the ability to get film from the fist game, look at pittman. he is either misleading the folks on purpose who are watching (texas), or he is just not hitting the holes. a significaint improvement can be witnessed in the texas game, where he hit every hole they had opened up to him. isn’t tressel ball fun to watch!? i think he is always playing chess with the opposing coaches, even many games out from their match-up. I can’t wait to beat the snot out of the team from up north…GO BUCKS!

  2. Welcome, Dan … I think you’re right about the running game. I thought it was sharper against Texas, albiet against a much tougher defense. It could also be a function of intensity level=quality of opponent.

It’s been funny to watch how the people in our tailgate group have adjusted to Tresselball over the years. Initially we griped about the low-scoring games, wondering why we could never really put it away. These days, we know the games are probably going to be tight and possibly even ugly … but we’re going to win them. And we high-five each other over good punts … because, as everyone knows, that’s the most important play in football.
