barbecue.

Hm. What’s that smell?

Burned beef?

There’s now only one frontrunning team for this year’s national championship, boys and girls, and it just smoked the Longhorns in Austin. This officially just became a very interesting football season.

  1. i’m trying to write something, but i am still gaga…the myth of the SWEATER VEST has a chance to overwhelm everything, and everyone (heresy) that has come before…also, nice to know that the kids have already begun burning campus…nov 18 should be interesting: bring you weenies…

  2. UC-

Two comments – first, from me – Oh, yeah!

Second – a persepctive statement that my older (5 year old) made – when the game came on, we spoke about who was who – Buckies in white – with the silver helmets – Longhorn’s in orange. She immediate got up and ran to her playroom wherein she brought back our ‘Collegiate Checkers’ game – with Ohio State and Michigan as the two team pieces – we played a couple of games (and she found some pretty good ways to cheat) – and then she stated she wanted to be the Blue ones! Now that was a bit troublesome at first – and then she explained – she wanted to be the Blue ones so that when she jumped my men, she got the keep the Buckeyes, since they were the team that was going to win!

Can’t argue with a 5-year old – you can tell them something, but you can’t persuade them easily.

Now, so what are you going to do for the rest of the season?

  3. Very interesting indeed.

I really enjoyed watching the sheer confusion of the Longhorn Defense. Troy Smith did a great job exploiting their chaos.

The defense looked good. Again, they had a speedy running back, but contained him a bit better than Wolfe during week one.

I have a feeling that the Buckeyes are going to infect each team they play with a raging case of Laurinaitis. I love watching great linebackers.

I would also love to see the running game pick it up a notch. It is nice that we don’t have to depend on it, but I, like Tress, want to see a more balanced offense. I do miss Nugent and Huston too. But, I guess I am starting to nit pick.

On to the Bearcats. Let’s hope its not as close as our last national championship season’s game versus Cincy.

We did get to enjoy the game Saturday night. It was nice to have Scarlett’s first game be such a huge win.

  4. Hey, Kristi’s back! So I’m curious. Scarlett is a beautiful choice for a name; is there a family connection there or, um, some other reason?

I’m actually guessing that we’re going to see an uncomfortably tight game Saturday — letdown from Texas, Big Ten opens in a week, etc. — but we’re probably see a little more of the balance you’re looking for.

Kewyson: I’ve always felt that arguing with my nephews is a little bit like arguing with my cat. The results seem to be the same, anyway. At least she was picking the right teams, in a kind of convoluted fashion…

HP: I don’t know if you noticed or not, but the Limas Bean was largely silent on Saturday. And I’ve been trying to come up with a joke about that for three days, but I got nothing…
