did I mention the part about "free?"

That’s this year’s music lineup for the Three Rivers Arts Festival. As usual, the concerts are all free; the only difference this year is that the shows will be on a stage set up on Stanwix Street, a temporary home while the state renovates Point State Park.

The key: Bold=Uncle Crappy will be there. Italics=Uncle Crappy would be there if it were not for another unfortunate commitment.

OK. I’m not so psyched about Spyro Gyra, and Koko Taylor needs to hang it up after this year’s appearance, which I think is part of her 22nd-Annual Koko Taylor Farewell Tour. But there’s a half-dozen on the list I will drive down to see and, as always, there is one killer — this year it’s Ozomatli — I’ll have to miss because of work. But for a music freak like Uncle Crappy, this is the best two weeks of the year.

Except maybe for that week in August, when Ratdog and the Allmans play a double bill at Star Lake. That one’ll be pretty good as well.

** Update, 5-10: The music guy at my paper just played me a few snippets of the latest album by Black Moth Super Rainbow, a local band that apparently caused a stir at this year’s South By Southwest … I haven’t heard much yet — I’m downloading some stuff from their site as we speak — but it immediatly put me in the mind of a poppy Pink Floyd kind of deal. I may have to add them to the list as well.
