We have one more road trip of the summer — and if you’ve been reading Uncle Crappy for a while, you won’t be surprised one bit what we’re doing.
We’ve been to the amphitheater at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center near Buffalo just once, to see The Dead in (I think) 2003. And despite the incongruity of it all — at a theme park, in the middle of nowhere — we found it to be a well-run, low-hassle venue. We also found it to be conducive to a kick-ass show.
I’m hoping for more of the same on Thursday, when we see our second Phish show of the year there.
We haven’t really unpacked our camping gear from the Kelleys Island trip, because we’ll be using it again Wednesday night. I’m not necessarily looking for relaxation, this time — I’m hoping for another scorching show, like the ones Phish has been turning in since starting up the second leg of their summer tour.
I’ve listened to a couple of these already — the final night at Red Rocks and the Shoreline show — and I’ve read HIMYR’s breathless reviews of the entire Red Rocks runs, which he saw in person.
Keep it up, guys, for at least a couple more nights, and I’ll be a happy boy.
