First: Dad’s doing great. The Wife and I arrived at the hospital today just as a nurse had hauled him out of bed for his first post-surgery walk. We took a short stroll around the step-down unit, and other than some pain around the only remaining drainage tube in his chest, Dad said he felt fine. He’s eating. He spent much of the afternoon sitting in a chair in his room watching football and grumbling about the lousy game OSU played on Saturday. We’re still not quite sure when he’ll be coming home, but I’d guess Tuesday would be a pretty good bet.

And: Thank you. Everyone I know, through the blog, through Twitter, through Plurk; the people I know in real life and the people I’ve never met: you’ve all been great through this. I’ve heard from so many that it’s impossible to thank everyone personally but please know I’ve seen each and every message, comment and response and they’ve all made the last couple of weeks much easier to deal with. Yinz guys are awesome.
