When we were in Columbus for the Fourth of July, we hatched a plan with Juan, who still hadn’t been to Pittsburgh to see our house: Come out for a weekend, bring your bike and we’ll spend Saturday riding around town.

He came out on Friday, and on Saturday morning, we set out for what turned out to be a ride of 18 or 19 miles.
